On the occasion of the official Brussels launch of the International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook (WEO) The Friends of Europe holds a high-level conference The changing energy map: its implications for economic competitiveness. The meeting creates perfect conditions to discuss the role of energy in international competitiveness which in recent years has become leading topic in political, economic and environmental debate all around the world. Dr. Fatih Biro, the IEA Chief Economist will open the meeting with introducing the presentation of the latest IEA flagship publication, followed by a panel discussion on the impact of regional energy price disparities on energy-intensive industries, economic growth and environmental performance. Chris Beddoes, Director General of EUROPIA will be one of the panel speakers and with other invited guests will present answers on most current concerns, who are the potential winners and losers in a world where big differences in regional energy prices impact competitiveness?
